In this podcast episode, Dr, Angela Schill and Dr. Jonathan H. Westover talk with Neelam Chand about navigating through barriers, internal critiques, and self-doubt that hinder authenticity.Neelam Chand (https://www.linkedin.com/in/neelam-chand/) has dedicated more than 14 years to being an influential Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) practitioner, making significant strides in fostering inclusive cultures across various organizations. In the face of recent critiques that labeled DEIB initiatives as divisive, she embarked on a transformative journey of self-reflection. This introspective process involved critically re-evaluating and enhancing her DEIB approach, driven by the simple yet profound questions of what belonging truly means and how to search for it within. This period not only prompted professional development but also ignited a deep personal healing journey. As Neelam re-enters the DEIB field with renewed enthusiasm, her focus has evolved. She now aims to integrate healing, spiritual awakening, and DEIB into a cohesive strategy. This innovative approach is designed to cultivate spaces where individuals are not only recognized and valued but are also encouraged to explore personal growth and self-realization. By asking critical questions about the essence of belonging and seeking it within our own experiences, Neelam's work strives to establish a comprehensive framework that nurtures authenticity, a sense of belonging, empathy, and genuine connections among individuals and leaders. This effort is revolutionizing organizational culture and setting new standards in the field of DEIB.
